Riverside house, Dartmouth, 2012

comprehensive demolition and re-building to provide new 4-storey house and jetty with hillside garden and terraces. Sited in the curtilage of the former gardens to the Victorian landmark listed house set on a promontory at the estuary, the former mid-20th century developer house was replaced with a new timber framed, highly energy efficient house, utilising heat recovery and super-insulated. Its full-height glazing to most internal spaces combine with the shallow plan to draw the river in to the house, changing the quality of light perpetually.
